Woods a winner at Coach Tourism Awards
Woods Coaches of Leicester has beaten off competition from coach operators from across the UK to win a national tourism award at the Coach Tourism Awards 2013, held last week in Liverpool.
The awards, organised by trade magazine Coach Monthly, recognises excellence and innovation across coach tour operators, tourist destinations and attractions, and industry suppliers.
Woods Coaches won the award for Coach Tour Operator Innovation of the Year. This recognises the role of innovation in helping to deliver business success.
In giving Woods Coaches the award, the judges commented that Woods Coaches' initiative brought an innovative new approach to community relations by working with the local newspaper and sponsoring their Carer of the Year Awards. The judges noted that the initiative not only raised the profile of Woods Coaches locally, but also showed the company to be a caring company keen to be at the heart of the community. The judges noted that the event generated £19,000 worth of coverage in the newspaper, and 650 new names on the company's database. The judges also noted Woods' commitment to repeating its sponsorship for a second year.
Kevin Brown, managing director of Woods Coaches, collected the award in front of more than 450 tourism industry professionals. Commenting on the company's success, Kevin said: To win Coach Tour Operator Innovation of the Year at these top industry awards is a great honour. Thank you very much to everyone that supported us."
The awards presentation was hosted by the editor of Coach Monthly magazine, Stuart Render, and television presenter and travel and tourism expert, Judith Chalmers.
