23/11/2016 - School Transport Safety Campaign

Bakers Dolphin's video message

West Country coach operator Bakers Dolphin has launched a campaign aimed at encouraging safety on school transport.

The Weston-super-Mare operator, which provides transport for more than 100 schools across the West of England has produced a video for governors and teachers to support them on safer travel initiatives.

Amanda Harrington, Sales and Marketing Manager at Bakers Dolphin, said: “The Autumn term is when many schools make their decisions about school transport. We know money is tight for them but we wanted to show the value of using reputable coach operators.

“The video shows just what goes on behind the scenes at coach operators, the checks that are carried out on vehicles, the standards that we have to adhere to and the way operators like ourselves invest in things like CCTV and telematics to ensure every aspect of travel is monitored.”

Bakers Dolphin PR14 coachesChairs of Governors received the videos in innovative players through the post while others were presented with packs of information and Bakers Dolphin memory sticks containing all the information they need to make an informed decision about transport.

The campaign was aimed at supporting teachers and governors, who often have to make a quick decision about transport on limited budgets and who are not used to specifying vehicles.

Max Fletcher, Managing Director at Bakers Dolphin said: “We have invested in the latest technology to keep track of our vehicles and how they are performing and this campaign is the latest move we have made to help those who work tirelessly as school governors to understand the issues.

“We think it is important for them to know what happens back at the depot before a school vehicle goes on the road, the walk round checks we make and the standards and rules that operators must adhere to.”
