04/06/2013 - Safety Benchmark status for Bakers Coaches

Bakers Coaches of Biddulph has been awarded the maximum six stars in a new safety endorsement benchmark introduced by BUSK, the child transport consultancy.

As a member of BUSK, all of Bakers Coaches will carry the safety benchmark so that parents, schools and member of the public will be able to see at a glance that the company is part of a star rated scheme, in the same way that the hotel industry uses the AA star rating approval.

The benchmark scheme aims to target parents to encourage them to raise questions about transport provision. It is intended to back up the BUSK  ‘Simply Safe' campaign which advises schools and youth groups about their legal obligations when making transport arrangements.

"An important benefit of the scheme enables us to engage with our clients by providing Information & Safety cards which are handed to the teacher or person responsible as they board the coach for a school trip," explains Bakers private hire manager, Kayleigh Dawson.

"This card provides important information concerning legal responsibilities and we make it clear that the driver shares the duty of care for the safety all the passengers," says Kayleigh.

A maximum of six stars can be awarded, determined by a points system. The entry level for the BUSK scheme sets out the basic criteria for the safe operation to achieve a three star rating. The star rating for all members of the scheme is published on the BUSK website see  http://busk-uk.com/
