19/03/2013 - Maynes Become an Ecostar

Maynes Coaches have recently been awarded 4 stars in the new Ecostars fleet recognition scheme.

Maynes are very proud to be associated with the Edinburgh ECOSTARS Scheme and are one of the first Scottish coach operators to join up.

Our company envisages many advantages to being part of this scheme, it goes further than the criteria that a lot of our existing clients expect from their coach supplier. This scheme will continue to enhance our environmental credentials and keep our business at the forefront of Quality Assured Scottish coach operations.

ECOSTARS is a free, voluntary scheme providing recognition and tailor-made support on environmental best practise to operators of goods vehicles, buses and coaches whose fleets serve Edinburgh. The scheme rates vehicles and the operation of a fleet using a star award system to recognise and improve levels of environmental performance.

Edinburgh is the first local authority in Scotland to participate in the ECOSTARS scheme which has now been rolled out in Europe. The capital has taken the lead on trying to reduce the pollution impact of vehicles, particularly freight traffic.

Maynes Coaches have already one of the lowest levels of carbon emissions within the UK coach industry, but we understand the importance of reducing ours further. Our Company cares for the precious environment that we live in, our touring coach fleet now all dates from no older than 2010. This ensures that all our coaches meet the current European emission laws with our whole fleet having a minimum of the Euro 4 smoke emissions and our more recent additions meeting the current Euro 5 legislation.

We will over the next months be working with ECOSTARS to raise our company 4 star award. Maynes Coaches are looking at various state of the art on board telematics systems to further raise our ability to control and monitor the fuel usage and vehicle performance. Doing so continues to show our commitment to our clients and our care of the environment.
