27/09/2013 - Lucketts smooths the way in Anglo American talks

Quality travel for the British-American Parliamentary Group

When British Members of Parliament met with a distinguished delegation of US Senators this month the South Coast's leading coach travel company was on hand to give the influential group of international politicians a great taste of Southern England.

Lucketts Travel Group was chosen to provide a modern, luxury coach for the British-American Parliamentary Group (BAPG) which held its annual meeting in Hampshire. Sixteen guests from the U.S Senate and seventeen from our own Parliament met over three days to discuss economic policy and defense and security cooperation.

The programme, designed to promote friendly relations and mutual understanding, included social excursions to some of the counties best-loved attractions. The American delegation was led by Senator Patrick Leahy - the most senior official in the Senate, Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and third in line to the Presidency.

Of course all Luckett's passengers are important to the family run firm, although this was a particularly special assignment for the Fareham based company. The British-American Parliamentary group is the largest all-party, bi-lateral group. It has some 655 members from both Houses of Parliament. Its Chairman is the Prime Minister, its Joint Presidents are the Speaker of the House of Commons and the Lord Speaker and the Co-Vice Chair are normally of Ministerial and Shadow Ministerial office.

The social excursions included visits to Winchester Cathedral and to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard where they were able to see the new Mary Rose Museum, and experience the home of the Royal Navy.

Hannah Mitchell from the BAGP praised Lucketts Travel Group for their "excellent service throughout the conference", she went on to say that she, "was very impressed by the professionalism of the staff, the quality of the coach transport and the support provided by the operations team."

Paul Barringer, Group Sales and Marketing Director at Lucketts Travel Group said, "We were approached many months ago by the British-America Parliamentary Group and it's fair to say it wasn't the usual coach tour with such high profile politicians on board.  It was a delight to have had the U.S Senators and British MPs travelling with us, and to hear how much they appreciated the high levels of service our team offer. "

Lucketts Travel is the leading coach travel company in Southern England, offering a wide variety of coach hire, day trips, city breaks and holidays for young and old alike. The company has a fleet of more than one hundred modern luxury vehicles, with drivers trained to the highest safety standards.
