31/05/2017 - Lucketts’ Ian saddles up for charity

London to Amsterdam ride supporting Prostate Cancer UK

As a director of successful coach firm Lucketts Travel, Ian Luckett is used to being on the road. But now he is swapping an engine for pedal power as he cycles 145 miles across Europe for charity.

The Fareham businessman has joined forces with associates from Elephant’s Child Business Consultancy, which works with Lucketts, to form a team for Football to Amsterdam 2017.

The mass cycling event will see 400 football fans, staff and legends of the game embark on an epic pedal-pilgrimage from London to Amsterdam over two days. Among the sporting stars involved in the event, in aid of Prostate Cancer UK, are Les Ferdinand, Terry Butcher and Alan Smith.

Ian, a keen cyclist, said: “Amsterdam is one of the most popular European breaks we offer at Lucketts so I’m looking forward to visiting the city for myself. While cycling there is certainly going to be less comfortable than travelling on one of our coaches, the thought of raising money for such an important charity will keep me going.”

Ian and the rest of the team have been busy clocking up training miles on Hampshire’s roads in recent months. They will set off from London on June 9 and hope to raise £2,000 between them, having already surpassed their initial target of £1,000.
