Accessible coaches let Portsmouth FC fans get to away games more easily

Lucketts Travel has expanded its range of accessible coaches so Portsmouth FC fans can get to away games more easily.

The coach firm, which is the official away fans’ travel provider, has made the first coach in every away game a wheelchair accessible one from August and will continue this policy throughout the season.

The company met with fans to test out the wheelchair lift on one of its coaches ahead of a busy season of away fixtures. Among those there on the day was chairman of the club’s Disabled Supporters Association, Basher Benfield.

Basher, a lifelong fan, said: “Having this coach has been an absolute godsend to disabled people, it’s a brilliant idea. Before people had to go by car and often had to pick and choose which matches they could attend. It’s all changed now and it’s proving really popular.”

Tony Lawman, managing director of Lucketts Travel, said: “Portsmouth fans are a passionate bunch and it’s an absolute pleasure to help them get to away games in comfort and style. We’re looking forward to an exciting season ahead, with even more accessible travel now available.”

Lucketts has a long association with Portsmouth FC. It has been the official away fans’ travel provider for many seasons and is also a sponsor, with its pitchside board proudly sitting in the north stand of the club grounds.

It also provides away travel for the team on its luxury VIP coach, which arrived in Fareham this summer.
