Revolutionary new system on trial
A revolutionary new system that gives the driver a 360 view of the vehicle as if looking from above (hence the term helicopter view) is on trial with Epsom Coaches Group. A system of cameras are knitted together giving a "helicopter" view of the vehicle surroundings. This is now in a trial period and if we find it to be an effective system we will look to roll it out across the bus and coach fleet.
Project Manager Peter Minnette commented, "this system has the potential to be a huge aid to safety. When driving large vehicles in urban situations, there are often blind spots which means that cyclists and other road users can be difficult to see. Although we already have radar reversing systems and CCTV as standard, we have always looked to use technology to further aid our excellent safety record".
