26/06/2018 - Coach firm saddles up for Vélo South

Lucketts team fund raising for Transaid

ucketts Travel is preparing to swap engine power for pedal power as it takes part in the new 100 mile closed-road sportive, Vélo South, in September.

A team of 24 staff and associates of the Hampshire coach firm will saddle up and take part in the new cycling event to raise money for charity.

The news comes shortly after it was announced that Lucketts would be the official coach partner for the event, providing luxurious coaches and mini buses for the debut event across the weekend.

Now, alongside providing transport for marshals during the event, a team made up of Lucketts staff, suppliers, stakeholders, and people that have a relationship with the luxury travel firm will push their endurance to the limits alongside the thousands of other keen cyclists entering the event.

Owner Ian Luckett and managing director Tony Lawman will be heading up the Lucketts team, which includes riders from a range of professions such as solicitors, photographers, automotive engineers, and a local surgeon.

Ian said: “I’m really excited about the challenge. We’re organising training rides in the months leading up to the race, so the team should be well-prepared when September comes around. And we’re especially happy to be able to raise money for charity through our involvement. Giving back to charities and local communities is important to us as an organisation that’s been operating for more than 90 years.”

The Lucketts Vélo South team is fundraising for Transaid, a charity that works to provide affordable and sustainable transport for people in economically developing countries. Transaid was founded by Save the Children, The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), and its Patron, HRH The Princess Royal.

Vélo South takes place on September 23 and will see 15,000 cyclists set off from Goodwood Motor Circuit for a 100-mile closed road sportive. Riders will have the unique opportunity to travel through the Goodwood Estate and through the county of West Sussex. Featuring rolling countryside, panoramic views, picturesque villages and iconic climbs, the route showcases the very best of this stunning part of the country. Riders will then be treated to a grandstand finish at the Goodwood Motor Circuit where they can collect their well-earned medal.
