Bakers Dolphin helping the Penny Brohn cancer support charity in the London MoonWalk event

A North Somerset-based national charity is over the moon being able to support a national fund-raising event in London – thanks to a helping hand from a leading local coach company.

Penny Brohn UK, which is based in Pill, sent nearly 50 staff, volunteers plus their friends and family members, to London to support the annual MoonWalk event.

Bakers Dolphin moonwalk  Weston-super-Mare-based Bakers Dolphin provided a complimentary coach and driver for the day to take them to and from the capital.

Penny Brohn UK is the leading charity in the UK to take an integrated and whole-person approach to cancer support, recognising that people need more than medicine to cope with the disease.

The organisation sees each person as a unique individual with their own hopes and needs, incorporating mind, body, spirit and emotions.

The charity focuses on managing stress as well as exercise and diet through free courses, one-to-one therapies, groups, treatment support, clinics and a national helpline.

The MoonWalk is a night-time charity event in London organised by UK-based grant-making breast cancer charity Walk the Walk.

Participants can power walk either a marathon or half-marathon, many of them wearing brightly decorated bras to raise funds for breast cancer causes.

Walk the Walk is a major funder of the work of Penny Brohn UK and volunteering at the event is a fantastic way for Penny Brohn UK to say a big thank you.

The Penny Brohn UK team supported the event by selling merchandise and applying temporary tattoos and handing out balloons as the walkers arrived en-masse in the giant pink event tent.

Sarah Gottesman, Volunteer Manager at Penny Brohn UK, said: “A huge thank you to Bakers Dolphin for providing our wonderful MoonWalk volunteers with free travel and for looking after us so well.

“The drivers went above and beyond and were brilliant. It was a fantastic event with a fun and friendly atmosphere.

“Volunteering at MoonWalk is a great way for us to say thank you to Walk the Walk for their incredible support, and hearing so many personal stories is really inspiring.”

Amanda Harrington, Sales and Marketing Director of Bakers Dolphin, said: “It was a pleasure to take the Penny Brohn UK team to London to support such a worthwhile event which raises money to provide vital support for breast cancer causes all over the country.

“Bakers Dolphin supports many charities and fundraising events all year round, and we’re proud to play our part in support of the wonderful work they all do.”
