Five new drivers qualified at Suffolk bus and coach operator

Suffolk based coach operator, Galloway Coach Travel, is proud to introduce five (yes five!) new drivers who successfully completed their training and passed their PCV licence tests last week. All five will now be seen regularly driving local buses and National Express coaches across the company’s routes.

Galloway have been training the next generation of bus and coach drivers for many years but this is the first time five have passed within days of each other. Marc Button, Galloway’s Staff Manager, explains “We recognised the industry is facing a shortage of qualified PCV drivers, there simply aren’t enough to go around, so we regularly recruit potential new drivers into our academy and are very proud of the five who have recently passed. It is a career for life, these ladies and gentlemen can progress their professional driving careers with us and I look forward to supporting them as they take on new routes, potentially even driving across Europe on school or coach holidays.”

Dan Rogers, Galloway’s General Manager added “We continue to invest in our drivers and value their expertise in delivering excellent customer service. Having taken the test myself, I understand the commitment these individuals have shown to get this far. I hope they are rightly proud of their achievements and look forward to watching their careers develop with us.”

Galloway learnersThe five recruits are (from left to right) Anthony Deabill, Andrew Bailey, Dan Challis, Elizabeth Phillips and Suzie Sands (not pictured). The new drivers come from all walks of life, although two have previous driving experience, the others include a horse trainer, event worker and even a fast-food restaurant manager. All are happy they can throw away the L plates and begin a new career with Galloway.
