Skills reaches new heights with Torrs takeover
Skills Holidays, the Nottingham based coach firm, has taken over the operations of Torrs Coaches, one of the city’s other long established family owned holiday companies. In a move which coincides with the retirement of directors, Charles and Enid Torr, Skills plans to amalgamate Torrs’ existing excursions, holidays and private hire arrangements into the Skills holiday programme. No details of the consideration have been released.
Nigel Skill, managing director, Skills Holidays, says all existing bookings will be honoured.
“This is a good move for us following our recent £2.5 million fleet investment and the growth of interest in coach based holidays in the UK and abroad,” he says. “We are also looking forward to launching an existing August excursion programme which has been set up but not yet distributed. It is important that we honour undertakings to destination organisers and other holidaymaker suppliers.”
It is estimated that around 3,000 additional holidays will be offered by Skills each year as a result of this expansion. Part of the Torrs coach fleet will be repainted in the Skills livery and their driving team will be offered jobs at Skills Holidays. It is expected that Torrs premises on Woodborough Road, Nottingham, will close with bookings being taken instead at Skills Travel in the Victoria Centre and Belgrave Road, Bulwell.
