16/03/2013 - Maynes Continue To Invest On The Orkneys

Significant investment in new coaches.

aynes Coaches directors attended the Euro Bus Expo during November 2012 which allowed our Company to meet some of the leading manufacturers and suppliers to the Coach Industry, and were pleased at the show to announce our company made a firm order for seven new coaches for the 2013 Season.

Our total investment of around £1.7m in various sized vehicles shows our continued commitment to our customers that "Travelling The Mayne Way" is to travel in a first class vehicle, specifically selected for its comfort, reliability and safety.

During the summer of 2006 Maynes Coaches began to assist the needs of the cruise industry on Orkney this developed over the years to Maynes further making a commitment by Purchasing a depot at St Margaret's Hope during 2009.

Our Touring fleet is based there during the summer season, April to October inclusive, supplying up to 14 luxury coaches to handle the incoming tourist market as well as undertake local hires within the islands. We also have a 16 seat mini coach based in Orkney covering our school run to St Andrews Primary School, Tobe.

Two of the new coaches were specifically purchased to fulfill our commitments on Orkney. These new coaches will blend into our touring and private hire fleet undertaking a mixed workload throughout Orkney during the 2013 season. The two new Neoplan 53 seat Tourliner coaches will ensure our company have met our plan to gradually bring our fleet on Orkney to be all under 4 years old.

These ultra modern EEV euro 5 emission coaches have the lowest carbon output in the market; they continually control and reduce our fuel usage. This is important in these economic and environmentally crucial times. Being able to monitor our vehicles with our GPS tracking systems, we hope to reduce the fuel usage, unnecessary idle times as well as monitor vehicle fuel usage to maximise vehicle mpg.

Our Company cares for the precious environment that we live in, Maynes Coaches have already one of the lowest levels of carbon emissions within the UK coach industry, but we understand the importance of reducing ours further.

Our company already has 3x 53 seat Tourliners in our fleet. These coaches have become a very popular size; the two new coaches for Orkney have 53 Reclining Seats, Climate Control System, Dura Bright Alloy Wheels. They are also fitted with Smart Vac Hoover Systems as well as an Ipod Link Lead to the In-coach Entertainment System and a Powered Centre Door.

We know the Neoplan product very well having 12 in our fleet all under 3 years old and all our clients are impressed by the overall finish of the product. The service we receive by MAN is exceptional, that of course is backed up by the 4 year bumper to bumper warranty

During late 2012 we were pleased to announce that we will be continuing our ongoing partnership with John O'Groats Ferries to provide Coaches for all passengers arriving on Orkney via the ferry in 2013.  Our coaches, driven by knowledgeable driver/guides, provide the "Maxi" and "Highlights" tours along with tours for private groups.

All coaches are due for delivery during Spring 2013. Our coach operating business was established by James Mayne in 1947 we have expanded greatly over the years and now operate a maximum of 30 coaches in depots in Buckie, Elgin and Orkney.
