24/04/2013 - Maynes bring home the Silverware at a major industry awards

Maynes are delighted to have become UK Coach Operator of the year ( Large Fleet ) 2013 at the recent UK Coach Rally and Awards.

Managing Director Gordon Mayne and Director Kevin Mayne accepted the award on behalf of the Maynes' team, Kevin Mayne said "We have won many awards over the years, but to be named as UK Coach Operator of the Year for a third time, is truly a great honour and one which everyone at Maynes can take great pride in".

Kevin continued, "We are immensely proud of our whole team who have all worked hard to deliver consistently high standards since my Great Granfather Jimmy Mayne started the company in 1947. The fact that these awards are nominated and voted on by our customers makes it feel all the more special".   More than 250 representatives from the coach tourism industry, were present at the UK Coach Awards held at Alton Towers resort in conjunction with the UK Coach Rally.   More than 60 individuals, companies and organisations were honoured for excellence in customer service and innovation. 


Well known TV presenter, Carol Kirkwood, hosted the evening and CPT President Malcolm Robson handed out the honours to the winners. The UK Coach Awards exist to promote, reward and inspire everything coaching with a spotlight on quality and success in the industry.
We also had another reason to be proud at the event with two of our drivers Stuart Alford and Sandy Watson both nominated in the coach driver of the year category. This resulted in Stuart Alford being Highly Commended and Sandy Watson commended in UK Coach Driver of the Year category.

Maynes Coaches were also present this year at the UK coach rally with one of our new Vanhool coaches. At the end of the rally prizes were shared between well known industry names, familiar faces and first time winners.  The overall turnout to the event was good with coaches from all over the UK attending.  


Sir Peter Hendy CBE, Transport Commissioner for London, presented the prizes at this year's UK Coach Rally, accompanied by Western Traffic Commissioner Sarah Bell during ceremony.
Our new Vanhool Tx coach was driven by director Kevin Mayne who came 6th place at the events driving tests in the Saturday. Kevin went forward to the sunday drive off where the top 12 drivers take it in turns to be the best of the best. 


Kevin and Maynes are no stranger to the rally with both being an attendee at most Uk coach rally's since 1997 and a regular at the many Blackpool rally's in years past.  Our first new Vanhool Tx is in a batch of 3 and part of a £1.7m investment, for seven new coaches for the 2013 Season. ( 5 of these are already now in the Mayne Fleet ) This shows our continued commitment to our customers that "Travelling The Mayne Way " is to travel in a first class vehicle, specifically selected for its comfort, reliability and safety.
