Lucketts Travel wins coveted award
Fareham-based coach company Lucketts Travel is celebrating having scooped The Business of the Year 2009 award last night.
Lucketts fought off strong competition from a field of 11 other major businesses all vying for the prestigious title from The News, Portsmouth.
The family-owned business enjoyed a hugely successful 2009 winning a multi-million pound contract with National Express and picking up a top industry award for the fourth consecutive year. This continued success led to a Ł3 million investment in 14 state-of-the-art coaches at the beginning of the year.
Lucketts Travel has been a part of the Hampshire community for more than eight decades and over the years has seen three generations of the Luckett family at its operational helm. With more than 70 vehicles, the company which first began as a haulage firm, now has one of the largest fleets of coaches on the south coast.
Chairman David Luckett said: “Obviously we are all absolutely thrilled to have won this award. The company’s aim is to provide the region with unbeatable coach travel so to be named business of the year in the Business Excellence Awards is a real honour.
“Our longstanding position as the south’s leading coach provider and commitment to providing the highest standards has meant we’ve been able to meet an increasing demand for coach travel which has enabled us to take the business from strength-to-strength.
“The hard work and sheer commitment from everyone here is incredible – I’m very proud.”
Major development work recently began on Lucketts’ headquarters in Broadcut which when complete will provide a new suite of offices and maintenance facilities for its fleet.
