Lucketts Travel and GWS Motorsport proves a winning formula
Lucketts Travel is helping its sponsored team polish the super shiny cup that stands tall in its trophy cabinet, after being crowned overall Class Championship in the 2011 Lotus Cup UK.
GWS Motorsport is celebrating its victory with the Fareham based coach hire firm that backed the Exige Cup Class race car, driven by one of the UK’s rising stars in motorsports, Jamie Stanley.
Jamie, who is the reigning British GT GT4 Champion, and Glenn Sherwood, owner of Tructyre Fleet Management and GT Radial Tyres, corporate sponsor of the car, drove GWS Motorsport’s Lotus Exige Toyota 1800cc supercharged engine power house to success at the final which took place at Brands Hatch.
GWS Motorsport came 3rd on the last race of the season, which was the 2nd holding of the Lotus 1,000km race on the Indy Circuit. The season was contested over nine months, three countries and saw the team score four 1st places, two 2nd places, two 3rd places and overall Class Championship.
Glenn Sherwood said: “It was a tough battle between us and the works Lotus team Evora GT4, which has 100bhp+ more than ours - a testimony to the team. We’d like to thank Lucketts Travel for its support. Here’s to another successful season in 2012 which kicks off in March at Silverstone.”
Steve Luckett, Director of Lucketts Travel, said: “Lucketts Travel is delighted to be backing the winning team and that Jamie and Glenn’s hard work paid off. We have always had a quality long standing working relationship with Tructyre and sponsoring the GWS Motorsport team has proved the perfect fit.”
