KINGS FERRY ‘FIRST’ LANDS TOP AWARD
Just months after launching the coach industry’s first regular on board magazine, The Kings Ferry has won a top award for the publication. The Kent-based travel group’s magazine, called simply ‘On Board’, was commended in a hard fought commercial category forming part of prestigious annual awards made by the Newspaper Society – the voice of Britain’s regional and local press. Steve O’Neill, managing director of The Kings Ferry, said: “We launched On Board only a few months ago, to give all of our customers – from commuters to holidaymakers – a digest of news, information and entertainment. “Additional copies are also distributed through the county newspaper, Kent on Sunday. “Not only did On Board receive an excellent reception from this wide audience, but we have now had this pat on the back from experts within the press. “It rewards yet another ‘first’ for The Kings Ferry and we hope that, like many other of our ventures, it is not the last award that On Board captures.” The latest magazine covers everything from news such as The Kings Ferry’s new AeroShuttle service for the rapidly expanding Kent International Airport and supplying the open top bus for the home town victory parade by Kent’s Olympics double gold medallist Kelly Holmes, through to the company’s diversification into Eurostar breaks and holidays to North America by air. Steve O’Neill added: “The magazine is also designed to summarise all of our other services in a readable and entertaining way, using quality photography, newsworthy features and previews of events that people might want to attend through booking transport by The Kings Ferry.” The group remains a wholly owned family business offering nationwide and international travel services, underpinned by its own 80-strong coach fleet.
