It’s Not All Ash And Doom
A South West based coach tour operator is reporting record sales for this time of year and says this is due to the recent volcanic eruption and the good weather.
Bakers Dolphin, the region’s leading coach tour operator is reporting record sales on both its UK and Continental trips as people are seeking an alternative to flying to their summer holidays.
Amanda Harrington of Bakers Dolphin said: “Since the volcanic eruption the phones haven’t stopped ringing with people booking coach trips away for their summer holidays.
“People are calling us saying that their holiday has been cancelled or that they don’t want to risk booking a flight this summer.
“Last Tuesday (20 April) we saw a 7% increase in sales compared to that same day last year – I think people like the idea that ash can’t affect a coach!”
There are also reports claiming that this summer is going to be hot which is contributing to the recent surge in UK holiday bookings said Amanda.
She continued: “In the South West the weather over the last few weeks has been glorious and everywhere you go people are out enjoying the sun.
“The unpredictable weather in the UK is part of the reason that people chose to go on holiday abroad, but with weather forecasts looking good over the summer people seem happy to stay in the UK.”
Bakers Dolphin is the West Country’s leading coach tour operator with a full programme of UK and continental holiday tours, a huge programme of days out and trips to events, and the daily London Flyer coach service to the capital.
