In Dad’s Footsteps

A man from Weston-super-Mare has chosen a career driving coaches for holiday tours, a job that allows him to follow in his dad’s footsteps.

Michael Blowers became a driver for Bakers Dolphin Coach Travel after closing his own business as a driving instructor and going through the company’s driving academy.

His dad used to organise and lead coach tours for over 60’s clubs around the UK and as a youngster Michael would spend his school holidays on these trips.

Michael said: “I use to love going away with dad, everyone was always so friendly and they use to spoil me a lot – I never thought you could make a career out of it but I have.”

Michael says that his favourite place to visit is the Lake District. “It’s beautiful up there and we always stay in gorgeous accommodation with stunning views.”

Michael spends his time taking holiday tours around the UK including visiting Wales, southern England and Shropshire.

“I love the variety of this job, one day I can be driving to Manchester for a coach tour the next I can be driving University Students to Spain – it definitely keeps you on your toes.”
