Galloway Disabled travellers receive a lift

Suffolk-based Galloway European Coachlines has added a new wheelchair-friendly vehicle to its fleet as part of their on-going modernisation programme and commitment to equality and accessibility.

The vehicle, a SETRA S415 GT – HD, is built to standard specifications with 12 Speed ASTronic Gearbox, 53 topseats, Euro 5 Engine and Hidrel lift. It was chosen because of its high standards in comfort, safety, economy and environmentally friendly performance, meeting the exacting requirements of the coming years.

It makes it a versatile addition to the fleet, but its main benefit is that it is able to accommodate a wheelchair, and the hydraulically operated wheelchair lift stows neatly away into the luggage hold.

Galloway is introducing a new Company Policy which sets out their approach to disability issues. It will incorporate a Code of Practice for customers and Guidance Notes for frontline staff, to ensure disabled people are not disadvantaged when it comes to coach travel.
