28/04/2015 - Epsom Drive and Ride day

First in a series of events to celebrate 95th anniversary

Over 120 staff and their families enjoyed Epsom Coaches Ride and Drive day, the first in a series of events to celebrate the firm's 95th anniversary and held at Kempton Park racecourse.

A range of vehicles were laid on to surprise and delight the participants, including a 1950 RT Double Decker, a 1953 Guy, a 1965 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud and a 1971 Morris Minor as well as examples from the present day bus and coach fleet.  A challenging reversing test was also arranged, culminating in a prize for the best amateur and professional driver.

Epsom PR 15-01 Managing Director Steve Whiteway commented, "the idea was for our drivers to experience what is was like to drive buses from yesteryear, with no power steering or other modern equipment, they did really well, as did the "amateur drivers" who were experiencing driving large vehicles for the first time, we need to sign them up!  This coupled with the opportunity to drive two iconic 60's cars at both ends of the affordability spectrum was a unique opportunity and taken up with relish.

The idea of the day was to give everyone the opportunity to experience something unique and for many a once in a lifetime experience. In that we certainly succeeded and it was wonderful to see our family of staff enjoying a relaxed Sunday together".
