Investment of £1.5 million in new top-of-the-range coaches
Six new coaches have joined a fleet of vehicles that will be taking people from the West Country to destinations throughout the UK during the Easter break as stay-at-home holidays take off.
Coach company Bakers Dolphin, based in Weston-super-Mare, has invested £1.5 million in expanding its fleet of recognisable blue and yellow coaches with the new top-of-the-range vehicles on the road at Easter.
Top-selling tours this year are to Cambridge and Ely; Llanberis in Snowdonia; St Ives in Cornwall and steam train events in Yorkshire as holidaymakers favour UK destinations.
Bakers Dolphin Sales and Marketing Director, Amanda Harrington, said: “We have seen a real upturn in the number of people wanting to holiday in the UK as the exchange rate with the Euro bites into holiday cash.
“The state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz Tourismo vehicles bring the best-ever comfort and safety to our day trips and short breaks and they will also be used on some continental holidays. 
“They bring our blue and yellow coaches closer to the standard of our top-of-the-range gold tours, which sell out fast and use the most luxurious vehicles.”
Gold tours abroad to Lake Como in Italy and the Black Forest at Easter have sold out as have UK tours to Scarborough and a trip to Scotland to see the Giant Pandas at Edinburgh Zoo.
Said Amanda Harrington: “While the end destination is always going to be the highlight of the holiday we believe that the journey is just as important to get right, which is why we have invested in new vehicles. Coach travel has come a long way in recent years and the vehicles are now incredibly comfortable with wi-fi, toilets and refreshments on board.”
