24/03/2014 - Coaches Booked for Titchmarsh Garden At Chelsea

Chelsea Flower Show trips on May 22, 23 and 24

Garden enthusiasts from the West Country are snapping up tickets for this year's Chelsea Flower Show after it was announced that television's Alan Titchmarsh will be designing his first garden at the show for almost 30 years.

West Country coach operators Bakers Dolphin are taking people from throughout the region to the show on May 22, 23 and 24 in a trip that includes travel and entry to the show.

Alan Titchmarsh last designed a garden at the world famous horticultural event in 1985 when he won a Gold Medal for his Country Kitchen garden.

This year, as Vice President of the Royal Horticultural Society he is joining forces with another Gold Medal winner Kate Gould to create "From the Moors to the Sea - A Celebration of RHS Britain in Bloom."

Amanda Harrington, Sales and Marketing Director at Bakers Dolphin, said: "The Chelsea Flower Show is really the first big event of the summer season and we have coaches going from Bristol, Taunton, Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Nailsea, Clevedon and from the motorway service areas taking hundreds of people from the region to the event.

"Every year people see it on television and wish they were there but find it is too late to get tickets, so this year we are taking bookings earlier than ever.

"Alan Titchmarsh is celebrating 50 years as a professional gardener and it is also the 50th anniversary of Britain in Bloom so that particular exhibit is generating a lot of interest throughout the country.

Bakers Dolphin Expands Into Cornwall

"The easiest way to get to the event is by coach as parking is at a premium but we only have limited tickets that we can obtain. It is always stunning and I think the long wet winter has added to the excitement about seeing the garden displays.

"As usual I'm sure there will be lots of West Country exhibitors to cheer on and some celebrity-spotting to do once we get there."
