BERNIE AND MARTIN ARE THE ‘FACES’ OF THE KINGS FERRY TRAINING SCHEME
Enthusiastic, friendly staff are vital to the success of Kent’s top coach operator, The Kings Ferry – and one look at the company’s striking new training vehicle tells you just how much they are valued.
The Kings Ferry has always had a dynamic approach to staff recruitment and training - and to prove it the company has just unveiled a new training coach decorated with larger-than-life photos of two of its most experienced drivers, Bernie Sayer and Martin Harris.
The Kings Ferry’s managing director, Steve O’Neill, said: ‘Bernie has been with us for 17 years and Martin for 15 years. We’re proud to have them splashed across our new training vehicle because, as long-serving drivers, they represent everything The Kings Ferry stands for – loyalty, personality and quality.
‘No one in the coaching industry puts more time, money or effort into training than we do. We believe our drivers are one of our greatest assets, which is why we have five staff dedicated to training, including two instructors.’
The Kings Ferry is looking to recruit 10 new drivers at its Gillingham depot in Eastcourt Lane – and bosses are inviting those who have never driven a bus or coach before to apply.
Mr O’Neill said: ‘We want to give people the chance to try a new challenge. Maybe you’ve always fancied driving across Europe, or perhaps you’ve just always wanted to get behind the wheel of a 74-seater. Whatever the reason, we’re looking for men and women with real character who are keen, enthusiastic and can offer a fresh approach to the job.’
The Kings Ferry funds a detailed six-week training course for new drivers, which covers everything from dealing with passengers to mechanical knowledge of the coach. Drivers will also be paid during their training period.
Applicants, who must be over 21, can call Tony Anderson at The Kings Ferry on 01634 377577 for more information. For further details about The Kings Ferry Travel Group visit www.thekingsferry.co.uk.
