Bakers Dolphin Helps Boost Children’s Charities
North Somerset charity Springboard, which helps pre-school children with special needs, will be given a major boost by leading South West coach operator Bakers Dolphin at a spectacular fund-raising event next month.
Springboard will benefit from the Clevedon and District Round Table Summer Ball, which will also raise funds for the Children’s Wish, charity that helps make dreams come true for children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
Bakers Dolphin is helping to sponsor the event, which features the popular showband Souled Out, and includes a four-course dinner.
Max Fletcher, operations director of Bakers Dolphin at Weston-super-Mare, said that Springboard had been chosen as one of the nominated charities at the event in recognition of the excellent work they do for the children, parents and carers in North Somerset.
“If we can help these kids enjoy better lives then it is incredibly worthwhile,” said Max, who is chair of Clevedon and District Round Table.
“We are writing to businesses and individuals throughout the county asking that they come and support us. The results are very encouraging so far but there are still tables left and there is still plenty of time for people to book.
“It is going to be a fantastic night out for all concerned and those kids will benefit hugely from the funds raised.”
Springboard provides play sessions for over 70 special needs children every week at centre in Clevedon and Weston-super-Mare.
Springboard’s senior co-ordinator Yvonne Kingston said: “Springboard relies on donations in order to provide the extra facilities their children need. We are extremely grateful to Clevedon & District Round Table and Bakers Dolphin for choosing to support us. Currently we are raising funds to improve our facilities for our parents and carers, and hopefully the ball will give these funds a big boost!"
Children’s Wish is the Round Table’s national charity which helps children with life-threatening illnesses realise their ambitions from swimming with dolphins or enjoying VIP celebrity trips to becoming a team mascot on big match days.
The Summer Ball takes place at the Winter Gardens, Weston-super-Mare on June 16.
Tickets for the ball are available at £32.50 per person and group bookings can be made for tables of eight or ten. For further information contact Amanda Harrington tel 01934-415000.
